After a few years of semi-retirement, Chef Marcel along with wife and co-owner Connie, decided to open Mad about Chocolate–we are so glad they did. Chef Marcel is responsible for The Trellis restaurant’s famed “Death by Chocolate” dessert, which he created when he owned the restaurant in downtown Williamsburg, Virginia.

Today he oversees and creates some of the most delectable chocolate this side of heaven! With indoor and outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the chocolate creations and the art, you can also take advantage of some specials they have put together.

I love their “Happy Hour” Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. You will find special appetizers, beer, wine, and champagne along with desserts. They have “Party to Go” options that you can order, pick up and serve at home or office.

There are sweet choices like brownies, cookies, and fudge and then the savory items like cheesecake, Billy bread ( European style bread ) and nutty chicken on a roll. After hours parties with groups of 35 or less can be booked from 6pm and can be absolutely Mad Fun! There is a minimum order but you will easily reach that.

In a nut shell this is a culinary and visual experience you will want to take advantage of and don’t forget the art is for sale too!
