One hour west of New Orleans visitors will discover Laura, a magnificent example of a Creole plantation.  This stunning property combines the graceful architecture of an Island villa with extravagant gardens. The best way to see both is on a guided tour of the plantation.

Starting in the Main House, which was constructed in 1805, the tour takes visitors through the raised basement and galleries, into private chambers, offices, service rooms and common areas. In addition, what this tour offers that few others do is delve into the lives, traditions and work of the enslaved inhabitants. It’s a fascinating walk through history.

Another highlight during your tour is a visit to the three gorgeous gardens, meticulously maintained.

Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. daily, and are about every 20 minutes after that; final tour is at 4:00 p.m.
