Just off Fair Play Rd. (at the Pub at Fair Play), onto Perry Creek Rd. about 100 yards up a hill part way and left into the bending driveway you’ll venture into the Iverson Vineyards, home of the winery and the prettiest spot for a tasting room. As you step out of your wheels, you’ll be caught up in the breath taking beauty of the vineyards at any time of year. The sprawling views are form the ridge of their property; vines in all directions with their home and winery situated a short distance away. The white color scheme showcases the beauty of the property. The parking area is ample for the crowds that flock in droves to the Iverson tasting room.
It happens to be one of the more fun spots to enjoy great wines. Mike & “D” Iverson, owners, work the tasting room most of the time. Their helper bee, Karen, is the most gracious and sought out tasting room talent in all of El Dorado County. Mike, “D” and Karen provide a lot of fun and an extraordinary knowledge of wine. You can’t goo wrong by stopping in to say hello.
The tasting room is filled with great wines crafted by one of the Sierra Foothills best winemakers, Rich Gilpin. Mike & “D” do the blending and bottling so they put their own stamp of approval on their 19 wines that are poured Friday thru Sunday 11- 5pm.
From the Author: Lucinda and I lived next door to Mike & "D" during our own construction project on property that overlooked Iversons, so when they were working on converting rocky hills into vineyards and making the buildings different than barns and outbuildings we saw their progress. They saw our exhausted bodies flop down at night. We worked, they worked. During that time we became close friends and know firsthand about their attention to detail, not only in their wines but also in the tasting room. You can purchase many great gifts for any occasion in their tasting room. We love their Bubbly and serve it often to friends and guests!
