Tucked on a side street just off of Main Street in Chatham, MA, the Impudent Oyster is the kind of restaurant you’ll find yourself going back to again and again. The menu features a full array of starters, salads, and entrees plus a daily selection of specials that include soups and sandwiches at lunch and a raw bar for dinner.

Small in size, the dining room is a nod to an earlier time, with lots of warm wood accents and white linen table settings. The bar area is sunken and feels intimate and cozy with copper leading the way in décor.

The restaurant clearly has a strong local following, evident by the wait staff greeting many by name and patrons high fiving friends who wander in from the street for a cocktail or beer.

The chef clearly has an international flair with menu items ranging from Moules na Cataplana, Thai Mussels, Queso Fondido, Pork Shoo mai dumplings, Cod Luigi, Stuffed Sole Santorini and Tuna Tanaka. But there is a nod to more local and regional items such as Chatham Clambake, Annette’s Halibut, and Nantucket Scallops.

On our most recent visit I tried the Unioshi Roll Up, which consisted of lightly fried Main shrimp rolled in a spinach tortilla with avocado, alfalfa sprouts and a wasabi mayonnaise, served with a soy ginger dipping sauce. I can honestly say I have never had a better sandwich.

Open year round for lunch and dinner. Reservations are accepted for dinner, and strongly encouraged.
