It is not often that one comes across such an incredibly talented couple that collaborates on the same art projects. Dave and Patty Hegland are an award winning duo (2013 Niche Award winners and 2014 Niche Award finalists) working out of a small store front in Chestertown, Maryland.

Recently I had a chance to watch them briefly when they were assembling a gorgeous glass vessel. They precision cut large sheets of glass into strips of varying sizes, shapes and colors and put them together to form the most complex and intricate patterns. When they are done and it is to their taste, the plate of assembled glass pieces is fused in a kiln. The solid form that emerges from the kiln is shaped, sandblasted and polished until it is finished into a piece of art.

Their portfolio includes vessels, vases, trays and much more. Each piece is one of a kind. Their artwork is for sale at their own gallery, Hegland Glass Studio, but can also be found at Barneys New York, the Massoni Gallery in Chestertown and many other fine stores all over the US.
