Coming from Central California, there was a “mushroom factory” in a neighboring town, you could always tell when you were close by, especially in the spring and summer months. These button mushrooms were grown in manure and in the dark. Hamakua specialty mushrooms, not the case at all.

The mushrooms here are grown in jars containing a special sustainable blend of materials. All very scientific and grown in clean room atmosphere. Simply amazing to tour the grow rooms and hear their story.

Then you can taste and purchase. You will be surprised here, mushrooms are not just for cooking any more. These delectable exotics are used in many unusual preparations that will surprise you. Cookies, jams, chips etc.
