Located in the heart of Carmel by the Sea village on Dolores St. just south of Ocean Avenue inside the Winters Gallery, Figge Cellars offers remarkable Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.   A long time vision of Peter Figge, he starting making wine in 2004.  All his grapes are grown in Monterey County and harvested by hand.  Peter is involved in every last step of the process.  Peter chose Monterey because of the cooler climate, the unique topography and mild ocean winds.  Can you say Obsessive, Compulsive Disorder?  This small lot production (1800 cases per year) can be found in local restaurants and wine shops, as well as in the tasting room and on the Figge website link above.

The tasting room is open Tuesday – Thursday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Peter is in the tasting room as his time permits, and has great knowledgeable staff to assist you in selecting the perfect wine for your pallet.  Enjoy tasting while browsing in the Winters Gallery, where Joanie, Jerry and Monet (the poodle) are your hosts for distinctive works of art from California and international artists.

Figge Cellars is part of the Carmel Wine Walk.  This Walk is a collaborative marketing effort of 12 local wine tasting rooms, all located with in Carmel-by-the-Sea.  Tickets can be purchased at the Carmel Visitors Center or many of the inns.  The $75.00 ticket enables you to taste at each tasting room (a usual $10 fee per room) and also gives you discounts on wine purchases at the tasting rooms as well as corkage fees waived at participating restaurants when you bring the bottle you purchased to dinner with you.
