Description:

Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air in Alton, Illinois is the hot spot of the Midwest, with very good reason: Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air has the widest selection of alcoholic beverages in the area, not to mention fantastic food at an even better price.

What began as a beer company’s small drinking establishment has undergone quite the transformation in its 90-year existence! In 1921, St. Louis’ Anheuser Busch decided to open the small, yellow-brick Bon-Air on the picturesque river town of Alton, Illinois. About 10 years later, however, AB had to sell the Bon-Air due to a change in statutes.

Sam Balaco and his son Lotteo owned and operated Bon-Air for 50 years, until Eddie Sholar (a.k.a. Fast Eddie) bought the tavern in 1981.

In the 30 years Eddie has owned Bon-Air, it has transformed significantly, quadrupling in size! Bon-Air truly has no comparison. Each year, over 4,000 half barrels of beer and thousands of cases of cans, bottles, and liquor are sold at Bon-Air.

The food bar serves an array of grilled burgers, shish kabobs, bratwurst, boiled shrimp, and more – all sold at the same low prices as when they were added 20 years ago.

Ask any local to point you to the best bar around, and they’ll point you right to Alton’s own Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air.
