A local family owned market, that constantly improves with each passing year, over 30 and going strong.

Deluxe is is my favorite place to go for meat, fish, cheese, and produce. Fresh and beautiful locally grown produce, fresh baked bread, meats and seafood of the highest quality are always available.

Deluxe is a store where you can share recipes, chat with the butcher, (who actually cuts the meat) gain an educational insight about the food in your basket; as well as put together that picnic to take to the beach just down the street.

The butchers are knowledgeable and accommodating (and don’t get annoyed if I ask them to cut something differently for me). I am not sure if they are all chefs, but, they will offer recipes, or tell you how best to cook and serve a special meat or fish.

Produce like you might get from a Farmer’s Market is always available. They buy direct from farmers who pick and deliver it daily. Some farmers only sell to Deluxe. Deluxe passes on the quality and pricing, many times lower than what can be gotten at the big name stores.

Does your local chain store have an olive bar, cheese bar; offering not just a taste, but, a discussion with a pleasant, knowledgeable staff member about where the olive or cheese came from, was sourced?

The Deli features fabulous sandwiches that you may design, choices of salads, or you can create your own at the salad bar. Take home different hot specialties of the day made in house.

The Deluxe bakery offers daily specials, sometimes exotic, ready to bake pies and will source or bake to order if you do not see it in the store.

There is an in-house Pete’s Coffee Kiosk open early.

Healthy, attractive plants and flowers from local growers are offered for sale as you walk in the front of the store, always a variety, and at reasonable prices.

Not just a full service grocery, the Deluxe family, the Monte’s have been supporting local schools and charities as a way to thank the community for their support.

For 19 years the Monte Foundation has produced Fall Fireworks on the beach, a fantastic day of family fun with
seventy percent of the proceeds going to Santa Cruz County schools and creating scholarships, while the other 30 percent going to costs of the display and beach event. Their donations usually amount to over $300,000.
