Description:

Eat like a local at Clay’s Sapelo Station Restaurant. Housed in what was once a railroad depot this place has character and great food. Clay himself will greet you at the door and see you seated at a table.  Eat in the dining room, the bar area or one of the porches. The seafood is fresh and includes blue crab, Sapelo clams, scallops a variety of fish and of course shrimp and oysters. Menu items include steak and bison (right from a local buffalo ranch) as well. There is always a choice of fresh veggies for a side and the salads are cold and crisp.

Sapelo Station is where the locals eat.  Drop by for dinner (reservations are recommended) or if you’re still in your bathing suit and flip flops then go round to the crab shed and order your food to go. Sapelo Station has a full bar and frequently you can enjoy live music.

Décor is a bit rustic as one would expect from an 1800’s country railroad depot. Walls have some interesting artwork, some by local artists and nautical charts of the local area.

Popular dinners include grilled grouper with mango salsa, grilled shrimp and/or scallops and appetizers of Sapelo clams with garlic and white wine or spicy boom-boom shrimp (think buffalo style).

From the Author: My favorite dish is a combination of shrimp and scallops grilled. This dish is sauteed with onions and green pepper with low country seasoning. When there’s live music the place is packed with lots of fun and dancing.
