Description:

Asheville consistently astounds visitors and locals alike by the sheer numbers of places available for dining. From vegetarian, to gluten free even vegan- no segment of the dining population goes wanting in our little hamlet. Cinnamon Kitchen is a place you might drive right past in the congestion and chaos of Hendersonville Road in south Asheville but that would be fine opportunity missed even in a place gaining quite the reputation for exciting and innovative cuisine.

The back aspect shopping center location housing this jewel of India, could prove off putting but if you can put that aside you are in for a sensory flavor overload showcasing fresh, beyond delicious offerings of India’s best.

The interior is intimately sized providing both booth and table seating. Natural light is found in good supply provided by the large glass window front. There is also a full bar with a selection of reds, whites and sparkling wines as well as beer and mixed drinks.

At lunchtime they offer a buffet conveniently placed for easy access with varied choices. This buffet is never the same and available Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. It provides a really awesome opportunity of exploring a cuisine you might not be comfortable with and finding something you really like.

No boring, chain touting many locations all offering the same food here, Cinnamon Kitchen is a Mom and Pop operation and frankly is not convenient to where we live in Asheville, but since finding this surprising offering in this tiny strip center I find myself thinking Bombay, Tureens, Chicken Tikka Masala and Roti (breads) and these images are parading through my imagination at odd times. It is then I know that it’s time for me to return to Cinnamon Kitchen. For the time being, until I can book passage to India, it’s the best I can manage and delectable compromise.

Just to aid in the finding of this tucked away location when you pass Home Trust Bank on the right and Hardees on the left, move into the left turn lane at the stop light right there and prepare to be amazed.

Dinner: Mon-Thursday 4:30-9:30 p.m.
Friday 4:30-10:00 p.m.
Saturday 3:00-10:00 p.m.
Sunday 3:00-9:00 p.m.

From the Author: $9.95 Lunch Buffet with many special choices perfectly maintained. If you've never engaged with Indian food before this might be a perfect place to investigate the food that makes your heart sing. The choices change daily. They are hot, freshly made and offer an excellent opportunity to experiment without ordering an entire course entree. The Chicken Tikka Masala is a masterpiece!
