Description:
Other than sand dunes and salty air, there is nothing quite so quintessentially Cape Cod as Cape Cod Potato Chips. Born on the 4th of July, 1980 in a small store front in downtown Hyannis, Massachusetts, the all-natural kettle-cooked potato chips became an instant hit with the locals. Soon tourists discovered the big crunchy chips and news of this tasty treat spread far and wide as people began taking bags home to share with friends. Within five years the small Mom and Pop business outgrew their main street location and opened a factory not far away. They introduced their factory tour in 1985, which has become a “must see“ for most visitors to Cape Cod.
Their product line has increased over the years to include several flavors of the original recipe, a new waffle-cut variety, a reduced-fat line, and the latest “Chef’s Recipe” offerings of feta and rosemary or roasted garlic and red pepper.
Self-guided tours of the factory are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The tour ends in the gift shop where samples are freely offered and you can purchase the chips individually or create your own 6- or 12-pack case to suit your taste. Logo hats, tee-shirts, coffee mugs and other gift items are also available for purchase.
