A fine dining staple in Sautee for 25 years, culinary team at Bernie’s is mother (Bernie) and daughter (Monda). They offer up some of the most consistently excellent cuisine in the region at the restaurant that bears Bernie’s name. Between them they bring over 60 years of experience in hospitality and fine dining to your table when you eat with them.
The elegantly rustic restaurant looking out across the Nacoochee valley exudes a warm French farmhouse feeling, and the menu itself has a slight French accent.
From her signature French onion soup to her delectable steak au poivre, many of Bernie’s dishes have a timeless European flair. The ever-popular seafood plate, Fruits de Mer, features shrimp, scallops, and crabs in drawn scampi butter.
Bernie’s has a separate lunch menu that features delicious soup and sandwich pairings, along with salads and chef specials.
The charming dining room is eclectic and each table offers a variety of mixed place settings and flatware. Her salt and pepper shakers are always unique and funky. From the Author: The roast duck breast entrée is fantastic. I’ve never been a huge fan of duck, but Bernie’s is the best I have ever had. I like it served with the orange reduction. During daylight, the view out the back dining room over the Nacoochee Valley floor is so perfect it looks like a movie set.
