Description:

The parking area and walking paths at Beech Forest will lead you to an enchanted forest! Gnarly trees that house little people and other small creatures, geese that make a family each year by Blackwater pond. Glimpse foxes sunning up on a hill or turtles making their way across the marsh to lay their eggs. Beech forest is undoubtedly home to a natural New England paradise.

The pilgrims described these woods in detail and you can feel time stopping, taking you back to your roots, as you stand in the woods remembering this is where our first explorers trekked in their search for viable water.

The forest provides a unique beauty that one needs to experience first hand; green mosses, rare orchids, beech trees with peeling bark, birds that spy and follow you, brilliant foliage above your head and beneath your feet, frogs singing in the ponds. This place will call you back again and again.

The bird watching on these paths is unsurpassed on Cape Cod. There are 250 species of birds and waterfowl found on the Cape and many of them can be found here. Beech Forest is known for bird watching as it is a major resting stop for both semi-annual shore and seabirds. For this reason, the woods are suitable for children to seniors but it is not a place to bring your dog out of respect for the wildlife that make this their home and the bird watchers that are here for a quiet experience in nature.

The parking area at the entrance to Beech Frost is a perfect picnic spot where tables and grills are provided by the park service.
