Description:

Bass Hole in is one of our favorite places to catch the sunset on the Bay side of Cape Cod. A long boardwalk across the marsh leads out to a viewing platform from which you a panoramic view of Cape Cod Bay from the bridges over the Cape Cod Canal to Chapin and Mayflower beaches in Yarmouth Port. Sunsets are spectacular here.

During the day, the small beach area is popular with young families, as the tides pools provide endless entertainment for little ones. On many visits we find people fishing for crabs using chicken wings for bait from the boardwalk. An osprey nest sits on a pole in the marsh and you can watch the comings and goings of osprey as they fish the marsh for their fledglings. It’s always exciting to watch.

It’s easy to launch a kayak or canoe from the beach for an “up a lazy river” cruise of Chase Creek. If you time it correctly you can ride the tide in and out of the creek, barely needing to paddle at all.
