Description:

The Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast was completed in 1891 as a private residence for wealthy merchant Henry Picard and his family. He immigrated from Alsace-Lorraine, France in 1849 and amassed a fortune. Designed by renowned architect, Thomas Sully, the Inn features thirteen foot ceilings, hardwood floors, original fireplaces and period and eclectic furnishings throughout. Visitors admire the many architectural features found in this unique Queen Anne style mansion on the historic Saint Charles Ave streetcar line in the quaint Uptown neighborhood.

Innkeepers Joe and Bebe bring many years of service in the hospitality and the retail marketing industry to the table (albeit the “kitchen table” in this case) and have lived in the Inn since they purchased the property in 2001. At that time the property was in declining condition, it was a boarding house at the time. With a lot of patience, effort and their own investment, they have rejuvenated the 120 year old property close to the single family home that it was back at the turn of the 19th century.

They cordially invite you to enjoy the charm and quiet atmosphere of their home at the edge of the Garden District during your stay in one of America’s most historic cities. Don’t just visit New Orleans, live it!
