Description:
“Destroy apathy.” That’s ArtsRiot’s motto, painted in large characters on one of their exterior walls. Having gotten its start as a truck stop, similar to how most of Burlington’s favorite businesses have started, they moved into their bigger Pine Street location in the past year or so. They immediately set to work organizing the gallery space, booking local and national musical and entertainment acts, and putting in place a rotating six-chef Kitchen Collective for dinner six nights out of the week (in one week, you’ll never see the same menu or the same cuisine twice).
And they just keep going, hosting talks about important matters in the community, starting a regular Ethiopian cuisine night, inviting local yogis and yoginis to teach classes in the gallery… it’s always exciting to see what they’ll do next. Check out their events calendar on a regular basis.
From the Author: For a section of an old factory warehouse, ArtsRiot’s acoustics are pretty impressive. Though it’s not right in the center of downtown, it’s worth the walk or very short drive or bike ride to grab a bike and to see a musical act that they’re hosting. Phosphorescent, Caveman (in the featured image), Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band, Rough Francis, Com Truise, Dan Deacon, and many more acts have already played there.
