Description:
Alton Little Theater is a small and quaint community theater with a lot of history behind it… it is the oldest (continuous) live theater company in the state of Illinois! The company was founded in the early 1930s by Dorothy Colonius and 2 of her friends, driven by a passion for the dramatic arts.
Devoted to a love of theater, the Alton Little Theater Company performed wherever they could find a place, eventually arriving at the Alton High School Auditorium and calling it home until 1960, when members opened a small playing place called The Showplace.
Since then, the facility has been expanded greatly! It now houses the Dorothy Colonius Foyer and a spacious 230 seat theater.
Alton Little Theater typically runs 5 fabulous productions, 3 plays and 2 musicals, each year (summer to summer). Tickets can be reserved or purchased online. Season tickets and group tickets are available for discounted rates. Be sure to visit the link above for more details.
