Aberdeen Catery, better known as Jack Brantley Caterering, is unmatched!

In 1971, a position with the Kershaw County Chamber brought Jack Brantley to Camden, South Carolina. He is quick to tell you that when he arrived, it was not even imaginable that he’d someday own the most famous catery in the Southeast United States. “For you see, I didn’t know how to cook!” laughs Jack.

Jack and his award-winning team routinely have their fingerprints all over the South: The Carolinas, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi to name of few of their regular stops. Each year, they are the featured caterer at the Wednesday night opening of the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. They also had the pleasure of caterering a function in Hilton Head, South Carolina in honor of President Clinton and Secretary Clinton. Their extensive client list is filled with repeat visitors, and after the first event, they always move from the client list to the friend list.

From private dinners for two to very large gala’s and balls, there is a perfect menu for every event. And, the perfect dish — using only fine china they can seat 1500. Whole roasted pigs and poi with tiny umbrella drinks, exquisite wedding receptions, private birthday dinners are just a few of the features that fill Jack’s monthly calendar. Quality food and warm hospitality with a “personal touch” are always served!

The beef tenderloin is the number one requested item, closely followed by locally-sourced seafood. Imagine the largest silver punch bowl you have ever seen filled to the realm, and then reaching a little higher, of chilled South Carolina shrimp, and you have just imagined one of Jack’s popular presentations. Another regional favorite is boneless quail breast on grit cakes.

The Mathis House, known as Aberdeen, is the gracious and quintessentially southern home of Mr. Jack Brantley. It proudly stands within the city limits of historic Camden at 1409 Broad Street. The Mathis House is abundantly rich in heritage and history, filled with priceless treasures, and alive with one of the most gracious hosts ever known in this area.
