Description:

Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans is known for its vibrant music scene for the three blocks of it that contain live music clubs from modern jazz (Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro) and traditional jazz (The Spotted Cat), to  more eclectic spots like The Maison. You can eat on Frenchmen Street at several stand-alone restaurants, or at food trucks or the latest incarnation of a popular New Orleans hot dog venue, and there’s food at Snug Harbor in a dining room.

If you want to eat while you’re also listening to music, though, and especially if you have kids in tow, Three Muses gets you a really good mix. There’s an innovative menu of small plates that are great fun to order and share with everyone at your table. If it’s snacks you’re after, try the tempura shrimp with sweet Chinese mustard sauce-a perfect, crispy, tasty nibble.  Or there are deviled yard eggs with duck cracklings, or Three Muses fries with feta cheese and an herb topping. If you’d like a bit more food, lamb sliders with tomato chutney and herbed goat cheese are terrific; there are vegetarian options, too, like spring vegetable risotto, or seafood possibilities, like grilled fish tacos with citrus-cumin slaw and aioli verde. Everything comes in two sizes, small and large, and it’s a smart, multi-cultural way to eat. Many chutneys and jams – and oh, the pickles! that come on the side are made in-house by the Chef de Cuisine, Matthew Stacy.

Bring the family, or a date, or your friends, listen to great music, enjoy a beer or a cocktail, observe the funky street scene, and eat some of the best food out there. It’s a real New Orleans find.

From the Author: Glen David Andrews has a weekly gig there when he's in town.....you must not miss him!
